In the morning, there was a period for common meditation where the relevance of all faiths and communities was emphasized. A circle of hearts awakened to the human condition beyond nationality, religion and creed was sought and encouraged in those gathered.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sometimes it\u2019s easier to admit our resentments against a stranger or co-worker than someone in our own family.<\/li>\n<li>The only solution to a spiritual malady is a spiritual awakening.<\/li>\n<li>These expressions that help people recovering from addiction regain a spiritual footing once again.<\/li>\n<li>(Although I\u2019m not sure who would ever want to do that!) \u00a0But for me, I\u2019m allergic to cats and if I did that I\u2019d be in a world of hurt.<\/li>\n<li>Almost everyone who evolves spiritually has certain key characteristics, according to the book.<\/li>\n<li>Right now, on this inventory step, all we\u2019re doing is identifying our part in any damaged relationships.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Take Your First Step To Recovery<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>An inventory is just a list\u2014in our case a list of people and events that have contributed to our issue.<\/li>\n<li>Addicts and alcoholics may rid themselves of their drug or alcohol dependency by completing the Twelve Step process.<\/li>\n<li>If you aren\u2019t ready to get involved in your church, that\u2019s your decision.<\/li>\n<li>It is a\u00a0 reality of my powerlessness and unmanageability and enables me to see why I so desperately need to\u00a0 seek a Power Greater than myself.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This will allow them to undergo the required shift in thought that will free them from their addiction. As a result of this thought process, the spiritual illness they\u2019re up against <a href=\"https:\/\/ecosoberhouse.com\/article\/what-spiritual-malady-means\/\">spiritual malady aa<\/a> is at the core of their addiction. Addiction is a spiritual disease  because it represents an individual\u2019s attempt to disconnect from reality and any sense of spirituality.<\/p>\n<h2>The spiritual malady and addiction<\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class='aligncenter' style='display: block;margin-left:auto;margin-right:auto;' src=\"https:\/\/ecosoberhouse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image-UeZAMv7raciNqHDn-1.webp\" width=\"300px\" alt=\"spiritual malady aa\"\/><\/p>\n<p>We won\u2019t actually act on this step until we get to Principle 6. For right now, just ask yourself who might be on your amends list. Sometimes it\u2019s easier to admit our resentments against a stranger or co-worker than someone in our own family.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class='aligncenter' style='display: block;margin-left:auto;margin-right:auto;' src=\"https:\/\/ecosoberhouse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/marriage-changes-and-rules-after-sobriety-300x200.webp\" width=\"306px\" alt=\"spiritual malady aa\"\/><\/p>\n<h2>thoughts on \u201cA Spiritual Inventory\u201d<\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class='aligncenter' style='display: block;margin-left:auto;margin-right:auto;' src=\"https:\/\/ecosoberhouse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/feed_images\/alcoholic-ketoacidosis-symptoms-and-treatment-img-2-500x333.webp\" width=\"305px\" alt=\"spiritual malady aa\"\/><\/p>\n<p>It is the emptiness we feel on such a deep level that we turn to self-medication in order to alleviate the sadness and despair that go hand in hand with. But in our quest to fill this void with any and everything we can think of, we completely miss that the only thing that can actually fulfill us a spiritual connectedness to something greater than ourselves. On page 62 the text explains that \u201cSelfishness-self-centeredness! That, we think, is the root of our troubles.\u201d This \u201cSELFISHNESS-self-centeredness\u201d (or the \u201cego\u201d, as some people refer to it) drives us to respond to life situations with the above \u201csymptoms\u201d as well as disorders and addictions other than alcoholism.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>But in our quest to fill this void with any and everything we can think of, we completely miss that the only thing that can actually fulfill us a spiritual connectedness to something greater than ourselves.<\/li>\n<li>My spiritual health is excellent when I realize that the better I get, the more I discover how much help I need from others.<\/li>\n<li>The term \u201cspiritual malady\u201d does not mean that our \u201cspirit\u201d is sick.<\/li>\n<li>But alcoholics have an \u201callergy\u201d to alcohol, so for them, a couple beers turns into a world of hurt.<\/li>\n<li>The pandemic has taught us the fragility of life and the fact that we are not separate from each other, and that only together can we face the many threats we face today as the human race.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Final Thoughts on Living the Spiritual Life and Recovery<\/h2>\n<div style='text-align:center'><iframe width='562' height='310' src='https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5ndeyN4YvLM' frameborder='0' alt='spiritual malady aa' allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<h2>The Spiritual Malady: Bane of the Alcoholic and Addict<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>So mistreating our bodies is sort of like setting our own house on fire.<\/li>\n<li>Except unlike burning our house down, we can\u2019t go find a new body to live in if we destroy the one God gave us.<\/li>\n<li>The book may also be sold by Intergroup\/Central Offices or recovery book stores at List Price\u00a0 or slightly higher.<\/li>\n<li>The Charter is in peril because we have not taken to heart the people-centered approach of including peace, justice, human rights and inclusive development in our processes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class='aligncenter' style='display: block;margin-left:auto;margin-right:auto;' src=\"https:\/\/ecosoberhouse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/difference-between-sober-house-and-halfway-house-768x512.webp\" width=\"305px\" alt=\"spiritual malady aa\"\/><\/p>\n<h2>A Spiritual Inventory<\/h2>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This prayer in many ways embodies the thrust of this event and its relationship to the UN, to bring well-being and peace to all mankind via a recognition of our oneness and spiritual harmony.
